Dr. Sam Nguyen-Di Ai Hong may be best known for the beauty, style and grace that catapulted her into the spotlight. But her community, humanity, and philanthropy work in the United States has garnered attention as well as in Vietnam. In the years since her pageant career, Dr. Nguyen, affectionately known as “Dr. Sam,” has been steering the light to an important part of her life: helping the youth with her foundation Stable Anchor Manor (S.A.M).
On March 14, Dr. Nguyen says she was honored to be recognized for her community involvement and will continue give back to the city where she lives and conducts business. She and eight other women in the Westminster area were honored with the 2019 Women of Distinction Award given by Westminster City Councilman Sergio Contreras.
For more than a decade, Dr. Nguyen has been taking care of young children. With many accomplishments under her belt, including numerous pageant titles and charitable endeavors, the founder of Asian World Media and international TV Host “Nails Today Show” has become more active in the community. She says she hopes that her accomplishments and receiving the award will help to bring more awareness towards her cause in giving back to the children.
Additional honorees of the 2019 Women of Distinction awarded their community work included Louise Larsen, Roxanne Chow, Thuy Vy, Hai Nguyen, Claudia Steinmetz, Julie Chau Diep, Gia Ly, Bich Phuong Nguyen
In a press release, Councilman Contreras said “Through community service, professional achievement, integrity, and dedication to the well-being of others, these often-unsung heroes contribute to the quality of life in our city each and every day. They are mothers, sisters, daughters, friends and neighbors – but most importantly they are the backbone of our great community.”
“I feel truly blessed to receive this honor from City Councilman Contreras. I feel compelled to continue to use these opportunities to discuss ways we in the community can continue to work to provide our children with stable and loving homes,” Dr. Nguyen said.
Dr. Nguyen, a Harvard Business School graduate and international humanitarian, said her organization, Stable Anchor Manor (“S.A.M.”) recently adopted more than 300 orphans around the world. Nguyen has 10 children, including 8 foster children. She said she has her sights set on continuing to grow the organization to provide financial, emotional and housing support for children.
