ALWAYS UP FOR A CHALLENGE, ACTRESS MARINA ZOREVA

Some people think actors are the bravest people on earth. It might be true or at the very least their bravery matches other very courageous people. Most people are afraid of public speaking and the idea of just getting up in front of more than one person at a time horrifies them. Actors tend to thrive on performing in front of an audience. Marina Zoreva discovered that when she played the character Thea in the play Hedda Gabler in the round she was amazed at the challenge of being so close to the audience and the emotional rollercoaster she and her fellow actors experienced pulled her to another level of professionalism in her acting career.

The courage that actors are famous for is embodied in Marina. Even when she doesn’t feel like going onstage or on the movie set, she gives it a hundred and ten percent and shows up on time and hits her marks. It’s not just showing up though, that’s important. It’s knowing your lines and having a full understanding of who your character really is. She knows that if she is in a scene and she accidentally drops something that her character will pick it up as if she dropped it and the scene will go on without missing a beat.

The concept of professionalism helps actors maintain their equilibrium and Marina is a true professional. She always is quick to grasp her character’s inner self and knows what her character has done in the past – even if the writer doesn’t know. She gives each character she plays a back story so she will never get lost in the quagmire of “Tell me who I am again.” She is at the same time a craftswoman and an artist. Knowing her craft, if she were a boat builder, would enable her to pick out the right wood for the vessel and help her put the wood together to form a real boat. The artist side of her then takes that boat and sculpts a beautiful figurehead on the boat’s prow and then chooses unique colors to pain the interior and exterior. Marina is an artist who knows her craft.

Marina is from Russia and studied acting at Stella Adler Academy of Acting and Theatre in Los Angeles. She has been a working actor ever since. She has been numerous stage plays and films and speaks fluent Russian and English.
