Mr & Mrs Freud in love By Adrian Gabriel Dumitru

About Adrian Gabriel Dumitru

Adrian Gabriel Dumitru is a writer captivated by the mysteries of love. Through a body of work filled with reflections and essays, the focus remains on the complexities of human relationships and the psychological games that people often play, especially when love is at its strongest. There’s a deep fascination with the paradox of love—both an embrace and rejection of the concept—yet the exploration continues, driven by a desire to unravel the why behind human behavior in love.

The latest work, Mr & Mrs Freud in Love … But Still Playing Psychological Games, investigates why even when love between two people is undeniable, irrational actions often arise, damaging or even destroying what should be a beautiful connection. With a curious eye, Adrian examines why individuals, regardless of intelligence or understanding of psychology, still engage in these self-sabotaging behaviors. The work poses the question: Why do we harm the very relationships we cherish?

Though often resolved to stop writing about love, the pull remains irresistible. Each essay represents another step deeper into this fascinating subject. With an openness to both the beauty and chaos of love, Adrian explores its illusions, the transitions between love and hate, and the frustrating but intriguing nature of psychological games played within relationships.

As Adrian reflects, “There might not be a clear conclusion, but the subject of love continues to intrigue the soul.” This ongoing inquiry into love’s paradoxes invites readers to reflect on their own experiences and to question why, in love, we so often act against our own best interests.

Adrian’s work offers an honest, raw, and sometimes humorous exploration of love—a journey through its highs, lows, and everything in between.

You’ve mentioned that you’ve written over 20 essays about love before this book. What inspired you to return to the topic again and again?

Maybe the fact that i keep falling in love?!
Or the weird need of a large spectrum of emotions.

Your book center on the psychological games people play in relationships. What do you think compels people, even those deeply in love, to engage in these destructive behaviors?

It’s all related with a weird insecurity.
Games are simple confirmations that all is ok.

Observe that even those with a deep understanding of psychology still fall into these traps. Why do you think intellectual knowledge often fails when it comes to navigating emotions in love

Because we all suffer of blindness when it comes to our own lives.

The concept of love and hate being closely linked is a recurring theme in your writing. Why do you think love can so easily transform into hate in relationships?

The moment when fear … in any form … appears, the dynamic of all changes.
And we react … weird.
Unfortunately all becoming a nonsense.

You speak openly about not having a concrete answer to many of the questions you raise in the book. Do you think the mystery of love is what keeps you coming back to explore it in your work on Writing and Love?

I’ve wrote about the subject being under the influence of love.
Today what intrigues me the most is why the hell the passing of time metamorphoses beautiful love stories … in ugly relationships. And i still don’t have an answer.

You mention in the publisher’s description that you promised yourself not to write about love again, but you couldn’t resist. What is it about love that keeps drawing you back as a writer?

As the level i am today … as an ordinary human being … i believe love itself is a blessing for my life.
But i also accept everything happens.
All the possible forms.

Do you find writing about love a form of self-exploration, or is it more about analyzing the people and relationships you observe in your life?

We look around ourselves believing we observe the world but actually all is a form of self therapy.
We look.
We analyse.
Hoping we will understand something that will help us to have a better existence.
