A chat with Actress Ursula Maria!

cnfmag: Hello Ursula! You have been pretty busy lately, want to share a bit about your latest projects?

Ursula: Sure! I’ve been working on a few things. One project is a show called “The Gatekeepers”. The show focuses on both the music as well as the film and television industry and shines a light on what is really going on behind the scenes. I am talking to producers, directors, music supervisors, editors, songwriters, and many more to find out how they got started and what it takes to not only survive but thrive in this cutthroat business.

I am asking questions like “what can you do if you want to get your music placed in movies and tv shows” and “what are the things you wish someone had told you early on about the business that you know now”. It really is a show worth watching for everyone who is in the music or film and television business or wants to start working in it.

cnfmag: That sounds super interesting! Have you shot some episodes yet?

Ursula: Yeah about 25 by now. We have shot with film and television music supervisor as well as head of the Guild of Music Supervisors Thomas Golubić, Image Award-winning and Black Reel Award-nominated series head writer Abdul Williams, experienced music supervisors Yvette Metoyer Jabari Ali, Andrew Kahn and Carolyn Richardson, Academy Award and Golden Globe-nominated songwriter Taura Stinson, president of Go Music, DJ and 5-time Grammy Award-nominated film and television music supervisor Gary Calamar, long time music editor Craig Pettigrew, music editor Daniel Waldman, composers Paul Hasinger and Ben Frost and many more.

cnfmag: Exciting! What made you want to do this show?

Ursula: I’ve always found it extremely fascinating to hear someone else’s story and I believe I share that curiosity with other people. Aside from that, I would like to provide some answers to all the questions people may have about the entertainment business. By conducting these interviews I am learning a lot myself. It’s great to hear all those personal stories and it shows once again that everyone’s path is unique. But there are certain characteristics, like discipline and perseverance, that all these people have in common.

cnfmag: Well, we share that curiosity! Aside from this show you have also worked on a movie and done quite a few shoots?

Ursula: Yes. am playing a role in a thriller that has just gone into post-production and I am very excited to see the end result. I have booked campaigns for both 1928 the jewelry company as well as athensula, a relatively new company that sells clothes and more with amazing designs that are inspired by reality.

cnfmag: That’s great! Did you get to keep some of the jewelry and clothes?

Ursula: Hahahaha yes!

cnfmag: Awesome! What’s next? More episodes of “The Gatekeepers”?

Ursula: Definitely! And another shoot for athensula. And some other stuff I am excited about but can’t really talk about yet.

cnfmag: Sounds awesome! Well thank you for your time and hopefully we will get to chat again soon!

Ursula: Thank you!
