Profile: Audrey Biche – An Emerging Talent in Cinematography
Born in France, Audrey Biche has lived in Spain, China, and the Caribbean, bringing a global perspective to her work. Fluent in English, French, Spanish, and Mandarin, she is now based in Los Angeles.
Biche’s passion for cinema began early, leading her to pursue a BA in Paris, where she started freelancing as a cinematographer. Her career took a significant leap at the American Film Institute (AFI), where she received five scholarships, including a Fulbright fellowship. At AFI, she worked with various directors and genres, refining her skills under the mentorship of Denis Lenoir, ASC, AFC, through the ASC Vision Committee.

Her short film “Play Date” (2024), directed by Laura Campbell and Amberlee Colson, won the Jury Award and Audience Award at the Dallas International Film Festival. The film, produced by industry figures like Kenneth Lonergan and J. Smith-Cameron, highlights Biche’s ability to craft compelling visual narratives. Additionally, “Play Date” has been selected for Oscar-qualifying festivals such as LA Shorts and HollyShorts, further establishing its acclaim.
Another notable project, “Misalignment” (2023), directed by Pablo Riesgo, received recognition at a wide range of festivals. It was featured at AFI Fest, Palm Springs ShortFest, Las Cruces International Film Festival, and Boston SciFi Film Festival. The film won Best Sci-Fi/Fantasy Film at the ConCarolinas Film Festival and earned a nomination for Best Student Short at the Regina International Film Festival and Awards. It was also highlighted at the Fixion Festival, NOX Film Festival, and Nevermore Film Festival, where it was nominated for Best Performance in a Supporting Role.
Biche’s work on “Motherland” (2019), directed by Kristina Spassovska, won the Film Critics Independent Jury Grand Prix at the Kutaisi International Short Film Festival and was featured at multiple international festivals, including the Sofia International Film Festival, Zagreb Film Festival, and Cyprus International Film Festival. The film showcased Biche’s ability to capture poignant and powerful narratives through her lens.
