4 Tips For Getting The Most Out Of Your Hair

Sometimes it feels like your hair has a mind of its own. Whether you’re trying to get it to lay down flat, or give your lifeless locks a bit of volume, it’s not always easy to get it to do what you want.

It can be so frustrating to go to the salon and walk out feeling great only to find that you can’t achieve the same look on your own.  So, how do those people with perfect hair get it just the way they like it? Take a look at some of the best tips for getting fabulous hair.

Don’t Wash Your Hair Every Day

Do you wash your hair with shampoo every time that you’re in the shower? Stop!  Washing your hair every day leads to dried out follicles, and ultimately, lack of shine.

Ideally, you should wash your hair about once or twice a week.  However, some people can’t stand it for that long. At the very most, shampoo your hair every other day.  Use dry shampoo to eliminate any greasy strands that are driving you nuts in between washes.

Use Masks

Although conditioner is great for rejuvenating dry, damaged hair, it’s not always enough.  Hair masks will provide moisture plus extra benefits like restoration from processing.

Ideally, you should use a mask at least once a week.  For some people, it can be hard to find the time to sit around with product in your hair for 30 minutes to an hour.  Therefore, consider doing it overnight, or while you’re making dinner. You could even leave a mask in while you work out! Get creative with your time management.

Only Use Conditioner On The Tips

Is your hair frequently oily and lacking volume? It may be because you’re overdoing it in the conditioner department.  When you apply conditioner to your hair, it should be going on the ends of your hair only.

When you put conditioner on your scalp, the result will be weighing your hair down.  Your scalp has its own natural oils to keep that part of your head moisturized. Only the ends require conditioner.

Use Quality Brushes

Your hair is something that you wear every day, so it’s essential to make sure that you take care of it.  You wouldn’t throw your clothes under a lawnmower, would you? So, why would you throw your hair under one?

Make sure that you’re using brushes that detangle while also protecting your hair.  The idea is to get your hair smooth without tearing through it. Otherwise, you’ll end up with a head full of split ends and frizz. Do yourself a favor and invest in a quality brush designed specifically for your hair type.
