Catching Up With Australian Actress Elyssia Koulouris
Actress Elyssia Koulouris recently spoke to us about her background in acting, her influences growing up in Australia and what type of projects she has coming up. Here is what she had to say:
Who were some of your influences growing up?
Growing up I was influenced by actors like Natalie Portman, Audrey Hepburn and Ewan Leslie. I was also greatly influenced by the works of William Shakespeare and Oscar Wilde where I found my love of language and theater.
What kind of training have you had, if any?
I have been lucky enough to have trained while I was a child at St Martins Youth Theater in Melbourne, Australia along with VCA, NIDA and The American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York.
As an artist, what has been your favorite project to work on so far?
My favorite project I have completed would have to have been my most recent, Death Squad directed by Dan Goldman. I play a very strong yet vulnerable character. Due to our tight filming schedule I was challenged with working fast and efficiently which was a wonderful learning experience.
What has been one of the biggest highlights/achievements of your career?
The biggest highlight of my career so far would be being flown out to Armenia and filming there for a few months. It was such a different culture and such a big project that I feel really lucky to have had that experience.
If you had a chance to work alongside anybody who would that be?
I would love to work with Natalie Portman (as per my answer above) or Nicole Kidman, they have had such diverse careers and I find their work so admirable.
What other projects do you have coming up?
I am not allowed to disclose any information about future work but I can say that I am very excited and it will be a game changer.
What is your best piece of advice for aspiring artists?
The best piece of advice I could give actors is to just be yourself, work hard and be kind.
